About the ABNA Contest:
Amazon's upping the ante this year with their contest because they are not only a book distributor, but quickly becoming a publisher, as well. And knowing Amazon, they do NOT want to be a small publisher. They want to be BIG.
Two Reviewers judged each contest submission based on the "pitch" and the 3000 to 5000 word excerpt. (I'm sure a lot of great novels didn't make it through to the Quarterfinals. Judging can be a little random.)
Amazon then published ALL the Quarterfinalist pitches and excerpts.
Here is mine. It's FREE. It includes the pitch, the excerpt, and the reviews. You might want to read it to see an example of the type of story that made the cut from 10,000 contest entries down to 500. Or you might want to sample a funny, sexy mystery.

And hey, if you enjoy it? Cupcakes, Pies, and Hot Guys is already indie published and available as an e-book for only $2.99 with a spiffy brand new cover, designed by the talented Michael James Canales. (We're working on updating the paper book covers as well.)
Thank you and enjoy!

Being a former ABNA entrant, I know all too well how many fall after that first round. Perhaps the judging is random, but that is a huge hurdle to clear, and I'm proud that you got those two reviews that advanced you. They see how awesome the Cupcakes 'verse is. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing you come out on top in this competition!
ReplyDeleteYou are a sweetie. Don't forget Messenger got cut last year after the first round because I was an "amateur" and not allowed to write about time travel. I'd be thrilled if Cupcakes got a little love. The next round is even more brutal, so not getting hopes up. But THANKS!
ReplyDeleteEvery bit of love that your books get make the hard work that you did all the sweeter. Congrats for advancing. I personally enjoyed all three 'Cupcakes.'
ReplyDeleteThanks Laurie! I'm glad you liked the Cupcakes books. We'll take all the love we can get. Cupcakes, Bars, and Rock Stars will be done and published probably in the fall this year. Researching the habits of Rock Stars isn't easy, you know? Because, obviously, I know so many. ;) THANKS!
